April 27, 2008 by jbrenne

Great stuff.  WebCertain Europe Ltd supports Shelter with £400 !  Much appreciated!

The multilingual SEO specialists based in York has contributed a major amount of money to Shelter and the work they do for the people in housing need around the UK.

WebCertain is passionate about generating business growth for its clients in any part of the world. A team of native speakers of all the world’s major languages works together to achieve client objectives - no one understands working with different cultures and the nuances of language in the globe’s search engines better than the WebCertain multilingual team.

A friend of mine Andreas has contributed £100 based on the fact that I ran the marathon in less than 4 hours…..      And of course because he sees the value of contributing to Shelters work!

A big thank you!!

20 miles - 32 km completed in less than 3 hours..

March 15, 2008 by jbrenne

Man I m like a vegetable.. realise the last 10 k of the marathon is going to be very painful!!!!

Anyone with some good advice on how to OPTIMISE my preparation the last three weeks… ??

One thing.. why I m doing this? In support of Shelter.

The lack of affordable housing is at the root of Britain’s housing crisis. The British government has made a pledge to build three million new homes – but the number of homes for social renting must rise sharply if the crisis is to be resolved.

Millions of people in the UK are forced to live in substandard and overcrowded accommodation or are without a permanent home.

Isak donates!

March 10, 2008 by jbrenne

Isak Dammann has donated to the just cause!  Thanks a lot to him and his family for the support.  Shelter has now released a movie on the subject of overcrowding.

The thousands of families trapped in overcrowded housing in Britain report huge strains on their relationships.

According to Shelter’s research, one in ten overcrowded households has teenagers of the opposite sex sleeping in the same room. In Trapped, we see how awkward it is for Molly when she gets her period in the room she shares with her brother Jack.

And adults often have no privacy either, as Trapped shows when the parents have to share a bed with the younger children to give Molly some space. This creates friction and destroys relationships.
