In London

April 11, 2008

In London and the rain is lashing down… hey forecast is saying that can expect some heavy showers on Sunday so I m sure it ll be a fun day !!!

Since last Shelter have  had some good donations from Jon and Jon and daddy and Gemma. Thx a lot for your support! Also I hear rumour of a corporate sponsor lurking in the background.

20 miles – 32 km completed in less than 3 hours..

March 15, 2008

Man I m like a vegetable.. realise the last 10 k of the marathon is going to be very painful!!!!

Anyone with some good advice on how to OPTIMISE my preparation the last three weeks… ??

One thing.. why I m doing this? In support of Shelter.

The lack of affordable housing is at the root of Britain’s housing crisis. The British government has made a pledge to build three million new homes – but the number of homes for social renting must rise sharply if the crisis is to be resolved.

Millions of people in the UK are forced to live in substandard and overcrowded accommodation or are without a permanent home.

Thanks to my Spanish friend Jesús

Jesús, a friend from University, has sponsored Shelter.  Thanks a lot mate!

This week I have felt like its been harder than normal to complete my laps for some  reason…   maybe it was that ski trip on Sunday after the 26 km on Saturday that sort of messed it up. Perhaps I didnt allow my body the rest it needed.

However I ll go for my run this morning before heading off to work.

On track

February 11, 2008

Completed the longest lap so far in my training schedule on Saturday – a 25 km in about 2 hours and 10 min. That equals a steady pace of 11 km an hour.

Shelter just sent me a newsletter outlining their housing advice services. They advise 100000 people every year, many through their network of Housing Aid Centres. Shelter advises on a wide range of housing-related issues, including homelessness, allocations, tenancy law, disrepairs, housing and council tax benefit claims, rent or mortgage arrears, harassment and violence in the home, problems with the landlord, and the prevention of homelessness.

A person under the name of Svintoksen has made a generous donation to Shelters work with homeless people.  Praise to him !

Did you know that Shelter is a leading expert on housing in Britain. Their policy team is constantly developing practical methods to tackle the housing crisis.

man… its gonna be a thrill ! Cant wait to stand on that start line with all those people ! See the route here

Ran my 3 miles tonite … fartlek style.

What is Fartlek?
Fartlek comes from the Swedish word which means ‘speed play’. It refers to a kind of workout in which the runner accelerates sporadically then slows down again with no particular structure. It is a kind of freestyle interval training which includes spontaneous bursts of speed depending on how the runner feels.
